So we got some feedback from Question 3 on our newcastle questions revisited (see below) from a lady…

Q3:Finally, as we walked back along by what ‘I’ think is the bird sanctuary, we
noticed that there was the appearance of an airstrip along here and a
large corrugated building – is there one here or is it part of the bird
sanctuary?

…who sent us this:
Skippy,
For answer to Question 3 of the Wicklow Way website please see the website www.ro2na.com which stands for Residents Opposed to Newcastle Airfield

So check it out and see what you think about the situation… send us your thoughts and comments and we will put them up – we will post both views without any favouritism…

Kilkenny Arts Festival 2008

The Kilkenny Arts Festival 2008 runs from 8 – 17th August featuring Theatre, Dance, Music, Childrens Events and much more over 10 days in the beautiful city of Kilkenny.

One of my personal favourites is ms Lisa Hannigan who sang along with Damien Rice on many a fine tune. She gets to shine all on her own on Saturday 9th August at The Parade Tower in Kilkenny Casle. For only €18 you can’t go wrong.

In fact you can even meet her at 7pm in the upstairs bar at Morrisson’s as part of the ‘meet the artists’ programme!

For those interested in Art and Animation check out Atsushi Kaga at the Butler Gallery in Kilkenny Castle where his dark but funny humour takes you on a journey into cultural politics and the exploration of personal identity.

For all of this and more just check out www.kilkennyarts.ie or tel: +353 56 775 2175

Hey Folks – Isn’t this a great idea. Do it now!!

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn’t know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this ‘ICE’ (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of ‘ICE’ is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name ‘ICE’ ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones with patients but they didn’t know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognised name for this purpose.

In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as ‘ICE’. Please forward this. It won’t take too many ‘forwards’> before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one’s mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

Well, seeing as this site is living life the wicklow way with skippy the dog it’s only fair to keep you all updated on his health when he is busy recovering and so unable to type up his quota of news!!

With so  much going on I keep forgetting to upload the images which I will do this week. He now has a new temporary home as such – somewhere to rest his head outdoors whilst staying sheltered and able to poop if need be! ( you gotta cover all possiblities) . Is he spoilt? I am beginning to think so as i just swept the earth so there would be no pebbles to trip his sore leg up!! Jeez , but he still stays in the house if weather is bad or at night time. so don’t be worrying about him folks – We’ll make sure he’s ready to race around Wickow again soon!

loving having him home,

Sarah n Skippy reunited

In th meantime Skippy has asked that we say hello to all the nurses in UCD Vetinary College and he would specifically like to thank his surgeon Fabrice Bernard and also Philip Cusack who was very sweet to him.

We’ll see you guys sometime next week maybe Thursday? We’ll phone first and see whats best. Thaaaanks for taking care of skippers!!

P.P.s Can we also send out a big thank-you hug to Skippers’ aunty Mateja who let her lovely jacket get all ruined carrying him home on her lap today xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I have just heard that Skippy can come home tomorrow morning! But the poor guy got a fissure when the vet guys were screwing the metal plate ( awwww) to his leg!!

So first I gotta get a cage for him and he’s got to be kept in it for 6 long weeks, my poor baby!

The only other advice I have ( apart from insurance) is to slow down when driving…and I guess it would have been polite to stop and say sorry. Some people eh? Thank goodness for Karma.

Tomorrow I will post info on skippers and get some pics uploaded for all you wellwishers by Monday.
