Star Studded Show Friday Feb 27th

Two things, firstly Astronomy Ireland are holding a few star watch events next Friday 27th Feb throughout Ireland, the closet to us probably being in Carlow IT : http://www.astronomy.ie/venusmoon2009(feb).html

These events offer us the chance to view the sky jewels through amazingly high quality telescopes – Indeed when we went to see Jupiter in Roundwood at the star b q last year (?) I was really amazed at the detail.

Many galactic events are taking place (some for the last time in 30 years, some not again until 2012, bringing to mind the Mayan Prophecies methinks!) thus the star watch events taking place.

Secondly have a look at this link, it certainly makes you think!

Sailing courses in Wicklow

Our  friend Charlie from sailsoutheast.com sent us an update on this years sailing activities which include courses and opportunities to sail to Croatia and Athens whilst practising your boating skills… see what he has to say below:

Hi Folks,
I hope 2009 has been kind to you all so far in these difficult times. Thank you for interest and support in the past.

The Dublin Boat Show is on this week (18/22 Feb) at the RDS and my stand is Q29 (ISA section on the right) – drop by and say hello.

I have just put up the Provisional Schedule for the coming season, which hopefully will kick off in May this year. There is an outside possibility of a trip in Turkey or Croatia at Easter if anyone is interested – min. of 4 needed to make it happen.

This summer, our Sunshine trip (Athens/Kos/Athens) will give you the option of 1 or 2 weeks and we hope to have 2 boats with Yachtmaster Instructors on board in late August. We hope to be back in the Canaries in Jan 2010 also.

All the normal Introduction to Sailing, Competent Crew, Day Skipper, ICC and Exam Preparation courses will be available – ask us if dates published don’t fit your time available (all are provisional).

My prices have dropped on average c.5% and for existing customers who qualify for the 10% discount, hopefully this will help you in making up your mind.

We have a few names interested in an SRC/VHF course which hopefully will happen in March (Dublin venue most likely) – are there any other takers? (12 max.).

I am now an ISA Emergency Care Instructor (1st Aid in marine environment) and can run a course (min.4 /max.12) for your club or group, if you are interested.

Own Boat Tuition, Deliveries and other options are also available – whatever your training needs, drop us an e-mail or pick up the phone.

Hoping to see you at the Show or to hear from you over the coming months,
All the best,
Regards,
Charlie

Yoga Walk in Glendalough 21st of Feb

In the Brockagh Centre and Glendalough.

This is being run by Hilltoptreks.ie who are involved in organising walks in the Wicklow area and other parts of Ireland.
The Yoga Walk day is for anybody interested in getting out in the fresh air, going for a walk in the Wicklow area and also trying some yoga.

The area of Glendalough is an ideal location for the Yoga as it was once one of the pilgrimage centres of Europe and it still has a wonderful peaceful mood about it.

The Day will involve a yoga session in the morning at 11:00 .The Yoga session will be given by a qualified yoga instructor. (No yoga experience is required).
The Yoga session will warm you up, stretch your muscles and have you ready for the walk ahead.

After the yoga you will need to change into your walking boots and we then go for a walk in the Glendalough area.

The walk will be decided on the day depending on weather and the size of the group, it will be about 2-3hrs long, ideally up around the lakes in Glendalough and lead by a walking guide.
There will also be a break on the walk for some lunch and many chances to take in the wonderful surroundings.
The walk will be kept at a pace to suit everyone to keep it as enjoyable as possible.

If interested you can ring 087-7849599
Email Info@hilltoptreks.ie
Or visit www.Hilltoptreks.ie for more information.

The price is €40.

You will need to bring mat for yoga and gym outfit.
Walking boots, packed lunch for walk and plenty of water.
Raingear and a smile..

See you there

Terry.

Monty and katina in Image magazine this week

Many of you may remember Monty the dog who took top prize at Pet expo in the RDS last october
( click here for article >)

Well the lovely Katina tells us that he is to be featured in this weeks Image magazine. Katina is a wonderful dog lover and is justly proud of her four legged friend. But if you don’t believe me just check out her words of love for monty below:

Monty is the most lovable dog and I just couldn’t be without him. I have since adopted a Greyhound who was in the WSPCA for 7 months as company for Monty and they are MAD about each other!
Monty and I have been lucky enough to be featured in the next issue of IMAGE magazine out on the 18th February in an article on ladies and their dogs! I think you’ll agree he looks delicious!
~ katina

we’ll be keeping an eye out for him Katina, this is great , soon all us wicklow dogs will be stars! there is no media we cannot rule ha ha

hmm tv and me

well folks, we hope you all enjoyed the show – ear to the ground yesterday.

I always knew i had ‘funky’ teeth but my goodness are’t they noticeable on the telly?.. Thanks for all the kind responses from everyone. By the way thanks also to the Irish Examiner for mentioning us in their Feelgood section today. I will have the radio broadcast from newstalk up next week – that was a really atmospheric piece I think. thanks again Henry.

we look forward to spring now and getting out there even more, starting with some gardening tomorrow methinks so Dieter if you have any top tips let me know eh?.

Happy valentines day to all
