Tanning for fair Skinned Folks

Being of fair complexion I have found the general fake-tan color to be much too dark for me- so much so that I have avoided it completely until- with an impending wedding day to attend as main bridesmaid and a strange color that would best suit brazilian women I found myself forced as such to put some sort of glow on my skin.

A friend recommended that I try Bliss Beauty in Arklow who apparently gave a very natural light tan if requested. So off I went today after work and met Ashley who was very welcoming and sweet.  I would say most beauty therapists are of calm nature as they need to relax you before you start parading naked in front of them throwing funny shapes on cue! Seriously boys that’s what we do !!!

Anyway, to cut a long story short she was efficient, quick, explained what was going to happen before it did, and the tan is a lovely natural looking light color so I am not feeling too synthetic! ( let’s face it it is strange to paint yourself isn’t it… or is that just me?

Finally we would like to wish Sam and Jim our Congratulations and hope their wedding day is all they dream it to be.

Congratulations guys!!

Get your Fingers Dirty and Garden!

We’re getting big into our gardening here at www.thewicklowway.ie and are for the first time ever planting some veg etc. Last year we did plant some berry bushes and fruit trees which are starting to show positive signs this year thankfully.

So now its time for the veg etc. we have prepared our veg bed, compost heap, sowed some seeds (htough not so many yet) and have potted our strawberry plants.

Whilst we’re doing all this mucking about we came across this site:

www.irishallotments.net

which has proved really interesting helpful and useful. Check it out for yourselves and who knows what inspirtation it will bring?

Bates Restaurant Rathdrum Wicklow

Wicklow Restaurant Launches new website

The very popular Bates Restaurant in Rathdrum Co Wicklow have just launched their new website – www.batesrestaurant.ie. The site features samples of their many menus including Lunch, Dinner, Early Bird and Take Out menus. Plus their many Flickr images give those who have yet to visit a visual idea of the restaurants’ layout.

Regular readers of The wicklow way will be well aware of how much we LOVE bates! Situated down the picturesque cobbled lane off main street Rathdrum, this Wicklow Restaurant oozes calm, professionalism and fine cuisine.

On a  sunny Wicklow day this little piece of heaven will have you head over heels in Holiday happiness! And if your not on Hols you’ll think you are – seriously!

They have just extended their Early Bird menu to include Fridays and Saturdays (5.30 – 6.30pm) and also offer a fine take out menu if you fancy a night in!  Bates use Irish produce and incorporate many local Wicklow Artisan Food products in their menus – an example of which is the Kilcoole based ‘Janets Country Fayre‘ products of which are also available in the Restaurant.

A little Wicklow birdie has told us of Bates plans to get even more involved in the local wicklow community over the coming years with festivals, local fundraising events and much more in the pipleline which is lovely – Becoming part of the Wicklow community is what The Wicklow Way.ie is all about and Bates of Wicklow have shown their willingness and determination to do just that!

We raise our glasses to all the Staff at Bates Rathdrum Co Wicklow, in particular Alvaro and Marino,  and look forward to visiting them again soon!
