New Wicklow homeopathic ‘drop in’ clinics

Wicklow Homeopathy dot com have sent us in the following information about their two new drop in clinics:
one in Greystones, which is the first in Ireland and now, due to interest, they have set up a second drop in clinic in the Brockagh centre in Laragh.:

Low Cost Natural Healthcare for County Wicklow

People in Co Wicklow can now benefit from low cost Homeopathic treatment in Laragh.  Already established in Greystones, this clinic is operated by Suzi Duff, Tara Rafferty and Paul Dixon, three registered Homeopaths from Co. Wicklow.

It is designed to be a low cost method of treating seasonal bugs (earaches, coughs, summer colds, sore throats, sunburn, insect bite reactions, once off tonsillitis, food poisoning, gastric flu,) as well as sprains, swelling, first aid, morning sickness, gum infections etc. These are all ailments that are “acute” or short duration in nature.

Homeopathic remedies are provided within the total fee of the consultation (€15-€ 30). As part of their courtesy “hand-holding service”, assistance and further remedies are generally provided without additional charge until the specific ailment has disappeared.

Where an ailment returns frequently, or is more chronic i.e. repeated tonsillitis, irritable bowel syndrome, eczema or other skin problems, asthma, menstrual irregularities etc, traditional Homeopathic consultations of 60- 80 minutes are required and can be arranged by appointment.

Homeopathic remedies simply taste sweet and are easy to swallow by children, adults or the elderly.  They can also be used at the same time as existing medication.

To attend the Laragh clinic at The Brockagh Centre, contact Paul via 0863091237.

To visit the Greystones clinic at Waverly House, Greystones Main Street (opposite the Happy Pear), please drop in between the following times.

Monday          2.30pm – 430pm

Wednesday    10.30am- 11.30am

Friday             3.30pm- 4.30pm

How does it work?
Suzi Duff explains “The Homeopath spends 15 minutes discussing your symptoms, a homeopathic remedy is provided (free of charge) with details of how to take it and how to contact Tara,  Suzi or Paul after the appointment in the event further advice or assistance is required until feeling better.”

Tara Rafferty adds “Since 2007, we are receiving excellent feedback from Greystones folk and given the current economic climate, we hope people find the expansion of this service helpful.”

For more details see www.wicklowhomeopathy.com or contact

Suzi Duff 087 6560116, Tara Rafferty 086 4176956, or Paul Dixon 086 3091237.

Need help on the farm this summer? If its organic you could be in luck!

The Wicklow Hostel who are looking for volunteers to help build their mud wall pointed us in the direction of this site which is useful for people looking for volunteers to help with organic based projects:   wwoof.ie

basically its a site whereby people offer their services in exchange for accommodation, food, education in organic faming and living (and life experiences).

I remember hearing of something similar years ago from a friend when working in the hotel in wicklow. Anyway, it may be worth checking out or joining if you fancy an adventure! hard work too tho I reckon! and of course always get the people you plan to stay with checked out beforehand!!

Incidentally you can see the wicklow hostels cry out for help on its noticeboard on wwoof.ie or just contact Alison here >>

We love this !!

Wicklows Future Looks Green and Keen

It is a rare but happy day when we get excited here at www.thewicklowway.ie, and today folks is one of those days!!

We have been contacted by two very enterprising groups who have great plans for Wicklow and Indeed Ireland.

First up is the soon to be opened Wicklow Hostel situated along the Moyne section of the infamous Wicklow Way Walk. This is an eco  friendly hostel and I forsee amazing times ahead.

Incidentally they need a bit of volunteer help to get the ‘Earthship Wall’ (? I dunno yet what it is but I am signing up!) built in time for the planned opening ( september 2009) and we will have more info on that very soon.

In the meantime check them out on: www.wicklowhostel.ie

Secondly but no less important is the entreprenurial Grainne Sherlock who basically wants to get more Wicklow businesses involved with discount offers for tourists visiting Ireland. The cards are  bought by tourists via her website in the form of a 20 euro discount card.

She works tirelessly promoting the scheme with her many tourism contacts and you, the wicklow business, get more tourists visiting you and therefore buying your goods! and for you its free.

They buy it for a whole year and can plan their trips to avail of whatever applicable discounts they wish to avail of.

Guys – this is a GREAT idea and she has done all the work for you. All you have to do is make an offer to be included! see  here for more explanation than I can offer!! on her website: www.emeralddiscounts.ie

Grainne has a wealth of experience within the Irish Tourism Industry and has many useful contacts which she is utilising.

This , my friends, Is how to suceed in a recession- join up – its FREE!!!!

Greystones Theatre – Take a Peek…

The Early Bird Catches the Wicklow Worm …

One of our regular readers and contributors has sent us in this image taken on his mobile phone this morning.

It is, as you can see , a beautiful image of the sun rising over wicklow head this morning.

So when life’s troubles are piling up and if you can drag yourself from your bed for a while, why not go outside and see what you can see and hear – listen to the dawn chorus.

I promise I will get up early tomorrow and walk round the garden at least before work begins!

thanks Mick and Snipe!

Dinner at Bates Rathdrum May Bank Holiday Weekend

What can we say guys? Bates restaurant in Rathdrum got the thumbs up again not only from us humans but from Skippy The Dog too!

The holiday weekend proved an ideal chance to enjoy some of Wicklows finest restaurants and bates restaurant is surely one of these! Myself and a friend headed up to bates on Saturday night to find the restaurant buzzing with a fun atmosphere pervading throughout.

We were welcomed by Alvaro and seated at a  comfortable table with the usual niceties of breads, dips and water to settle us in. ( I ADORE their olive tapenade!!). My friend is a vegetarian and found a good choice of meals to choose from , selecting the gnocchi whilst yours truly elected for the seasonal Lamb.

The whole meal was deliciously cooked by the wonderful Marino and there were small groups, couples, birthday party people and businessmen all enjoying the night.

We later chilled out outside in the cute and pretty cobblestoned lane then headed back home full of yummy food and with a special doggy bag for mr skippy. Needless to say he wolfed it up and says cheers to bates and hopes to see y’all again soon.

Why not check out their videos on their YouTube to get an idea of the restaurant:
