Christmas is coming, Irish are emigrating, Ireland is fecked.. but wait! What’s this?

A new website called  Send Me Tayto.com ( in honour of the popular Irish crisps!) has been set up for those abroad to send messages to mammy and share stories of their trips abroad, namely those moments when all they can think of is a “Nice bag o’ Tayto crisps”, a bar of Cadburys or a Pint of Guinness!

With the emphasis on FUN the site invites all those living abroad or who have lived abroad to share a funny story and WIN a box of Tayto in the post!

GLENEALY IT CENTRE

Enrolment is now taking place for the following courses in January:

• ECDL-evening and daytime courses,
• Word Advanced-daytime course,
• SageQuickPay and Sageline 50-daytime courses,
• Web Design.
• New courses available are Digital Photography Workshop-Ready to improve your photography skills? This course is for both beginners and improvers. From understanding how to use your camera effectively to seeing and capturing beautiful compositions. You will take field trips to take photographs and be shown how and what to do with the images once they are transferred to the computer.
• 2007 Skills Update Course-Aimed at individuals with computer skills who wish to update their skills in using Office 2007 and familiarise themselves with the new Office environment (Duration 3 hours).
• New evening course – Web Design Photoshop will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7-9.30pm for 6 weeks (12 sessions) commencing on November 25th. The course will run for 4 weeks before Christmas and 2 weeks in January. The cost of the course is €350. These courses are normally run separately at a cost of €250 each but by request we have combined them and are offering a special offer of €350. COMMUNITY GAMES NOTICE

We are looking to form a committee to run the Community Games in Glenealy. Volunteers welcome, young or old from surrounding areas. If there are no volunteers there will be not Community Games. Please contact Sheila on 086-8683395.

There will be an EGM for the Glenealy Community Games in the clubhouse in Glenealy on Wednesday 8th December at 7.30pm.

WHIST CARD DRIVE

There will be a whist card drive in the hall this Thursday the 2nd December starting at 8:45pm

CAR BOOT SALE

Glenealy Juvenile Hurling Club will be holding a car boot sale this Sunday, the 5th December in Glenealy Village Hall from 8am to 4pm. There will be a huge range of goods from home baking, clothes, books to Christmas ideas.

GYMBOREE

HUMPTY DUMPTY

The Humpty Dumpty Club (run by Cuidiu – the Irish Childbirth Trust) meet every Friday morning in Glenealy Hall from 10am – 12noon. All parents/guardians with babies and pre-school children welcome to come along for free play, crafts and singing time.

Tea & Coffee, with snacks for the children also provided. Only €4.50 for non-Cuidiu members / €3.00 for members of Cuidiu.

Kilcoole Notes 29 November 2010

FUNDRAISING FOR SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY

The Brothers Walfrid Celtic Supporters Club recently held a sponsored historical walk around Kilcoole village, which was an educational and fun experience for all who took part.  €500 was raised for the Senior Citizens Christmas party.  Many thanks to all who supported, with special thanks to Wayne Kelly and Michael Kunz.

SET DANCING CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT

The Christmas party will be held on Wednesday 1st December in the Mill Room.  Music by Brian Boru band, starting at 9.00 p.m.

COLAISTE CHRAOBH ABHANN PRIVATE MEMBERS DRAW

THRIFT SHOP SHORTLISTED

The Thrift Shop was shortlisted in the Better Together Awards for their video outlining the work of the shop and the groups and charities who have benefitted from the profits.  The award in Volunteers Only category was Bantry Community Group, and well done to everyone who took part in the competition.   Check out the video on the Bettertogether.ie site.  Our beneficiaries this month are the Dementia Carers Association and the Carers Association.

The Wicklow Way are delighted to hear of a wonderful new service based in Bray that offers comfort, support and help to those vulnerable in society with a Free telephone support service that will make sure your okay and keep you up to date with events that may be of interest to you.

HOMELink is a FREE, confidential and comprehensive telephone support service designed to respond to the social difficulties that people may experience when living alone.

Many people who are vulnerable or who live alone are often distracted by the fear of crime, vandalism, harassment and above all isolation. HOMELink has been set up in order to enable the elderly or more vulnerable in society to continue to live at home.

HOMELink is a home support service that has been established to Monitor the well-being of its Members and Keep Members up-to-date on services, appointments, social activities and events in their area.

Glendalough Christmas Market

Brockagh Centre Laragh is the venue for the ever popular Glendalough Christmas Market which this year takes place on the following dates:

Enniskerry Christmas Market
