Eyebrow Threading in Arklow,Wicklow

WOW! That’s my first reaction to seeing my beautifully shaped eyebrows after getting them done using the technique: Eyebrow Threading, in Arklow

Jennys beauty Salon in Arklow now offer Eyebrow Threading as a way to get that well groomed look as one of their new beauty services.

Threading as explained on wikipedia is:

Threading is an ancient method of Indian and Persian culture where it is called Bande Abru (“Abru” means eyebrow, and “Band” is the thread).

Practitioners use a pure, thin, twisted cotton thread which is rolled over untidy hairlines, moustaches and so on, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing where a single hair is pulled out each time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line. However, due to a larger area of hair being removed at once, it can be quite painful for some.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threading_(epilation)

I found it less painful than tweezing or waxing as it ‘zipped’ away whole lines at a time so was easier to deal with. I have spent the last few months growing back my natural hairline to ‘start from scratch ‘ as it were…and now the result is that I have at long last the arched eyebrow shape I have always wanted!

Jenny Dempsey is the salon proprietor and has trained in Threading since her return from Australia, which makes Jennys Beauty Salon the only beauty salon in Arklow currently offering eyebrow, lip, chin face and neck threading ( and probably the only one in Wicklow).

Jennys Beauty Salon have recently moved from their former premises on the main street of Arklow and are now located further up the end of that road in a cottage on the right hand side.

SCS Web Design Wicklow Copy Our work without permission

Well, they say imitation is the best form of flattery but copying and pasting entire blog posts from our website to put on their own and sign them off as being from them? well That’s not really cricket in my book!

SCS web design based in Arklow have recently copied two of our blog posts and who can blame them?

Helen Pullen, Our wicklow Arts contributor has a lovely way with words and our Wednesday 8 dec post: http://thewicklowway.ie/blog/2010/12/08/wicklow-artist-on-winter/ was duly copied without permission and reposted on their blog the following day (9th dec):http://blog.scs-webdesign.com/2010/12/09/wicklow-artist-on-winter/ alongwith our santa info for laragh posted by us on friday 10th dec http://thewicklowway.ie/blog/2010/12/10/santa-in-laragh-this-sunday-wicklow-news/ and again, reposted by them on the 11th dec without permission or even a mention of where they took this text word-for-word from: http://blog.scs-webdesign.com/2010/12/11/santa-in-laragh-this-sunday/

I would have appreciated if they had asked if they could repost it and would at expect, at the very least a link back to our blog with full credit given to us….

come on guys, it’s never too late!

UPDATE 17 dec: I see that they have now taken down the above mentioned posts leaving them with a 404 error page. Still no apology tho…

Wicklow’s Helen Pullen on Winter:

REMEMBER OUR FEATHERED FRIENDS

Our winter started so early this year and the temperatures have been very low and our wild birds are suffering. We have always fed the birds in our garden every year and have had great pleasure watching them feeding. This year I have expanded their diet and included stale cake and cooked potatoes – after checking with Birdwatch Ireland! Amongst the birds that visit our garden are blackbirds, thrushes, blue tits and of course robins.

Every year we have had – I think – the same robin visiting our garden and he is quite a bully and I have watched him chase off much bigger birds than himself to get his share!

This year “our” robin is not always around and I worry that maybe he has lost the battle as we have had more blackbirds and thrushes than usual. I know that all the birds need food but I am especially fond of the robin as he has always spent time in our garden, perching on a nearby bush when my husband is working in the garden and singing away.

Amongst my Christmas paintings and cards I have included robins because a fluffy red breasted robin instantly reminds me of Christmas and I hope that by feeding the wild birds that this means that they survive another winter to bring us pleasure – so remember – feed the birds this winter!
