SET DANCING NIGHT

The monthly set dancing night will be held in the MillRoom on Wednesday 27th July, starting at 9.00 p.m.

LEES LIVE AID 2011 FAMILY FUN DAY.

There will be a fun-filled family day in aid of the Irish Cancer Society held in Lees Pub from 12.00 noon on Bank Holiday Monday August 1st.  The event kicks off with a sponsored run / walk at 12.00 p.m., and from 2.00p.m. there will be various activities including Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Penalty Shoot-Out, BBQ, Sponsored Waxing, Super Draw and live Bands on the Decking. BANK HOLIDAY HOEDOWN

There will be a bank holiday hoedown on Sunday July 31st from 7.00 p.m. in  Byrne’s Irish House, with line dancing and live music. No entrance fee, but check shirts or Stetsons are recommended.

JUNIOR RED CROSS GROUP

Greystones/Delgany Junior Red Cross Group meet every Wednesday in KPS St Anthony’s Building from 7-8p.m. for children of Primary school age,and 8-9p.m. for older students.

BINGO

Bingo is held on Monday evenings in St. Patrick’s Hall. It starts at 8.20 p.m. and everyone is welcome.

KILCOOLE COMMUNITY THRIFT SHOP

The shop is located on Penny Lane, off Main Street. We are open from 11-5 Tuesday to Saturday. We gratefully accept donations of clean family clothing, books, bric-a-brac and household items. No electrical items please. Each month we make a donation to a local group or charity. Please call in for a browse, and support local initiative. This month the Thrift Shop made a donation to Kilcoole Camogie Club.

CONSTITUENCY CLINIC

Simon Harris T.D. hosts a constituency clinic on Thursday evenings (except bank holidays) from 7.00 – 8.00 p.m. in Mollys.

The Hollywood Fair

The work for the Hollywood Festival in August goes on apace. The work and enthusiasm for this event is evident from the number of people who have become involved. But there is plenty of work for every parishioner.

To make the event a great Community Festival it needs the involvement of everyone. So please come along. Your presence could make all the difference.

Hollywood cheviot sheep show

The Hollywood cheviot sheep show will take place on Sunday 21st August in conjunction with the much anticiptated Hollywood Fair. This is a revival of the sheep fairs that were held in Hollywood in the 1950s for showing purposes only. Sheep should be presented in a mountain type appearance.

Prize fund to the value of E1500. Perpetual cups in each class. Entry forms are available from Kevin Traynor (087) 2962372, Garreth Corrigan (087) 2627525 and Denis Halpin (087) 2988557. Entry fee is E10 per class. Forms and Fee to be returned by 8th August. The classes are: cheviot aged ram, cheviot hogget ram, cheviot hogget ewe, cheviot aged ewe 2 yr old up, cheviot ewe lamb, cheviot store weather lamb, cheviot mountain type hogget.

Classic Car and Motor Cycle Run

The second annual Baltinglass Classic Car and Motorcycle run, organised by West Wicklow Classic & Vintage Vehicle Club, takes place on Sunday Aug 7th. The run is open to all Classic Cars, Motorcycles, Commercials and all interesting , unusual or sports vehicles. As in the previous year the event will be based in Germaine’s in Baltinglass and will cover an interesting route of about 40 miles with a stop off midway and return to Germaines for a meal and prizegiving etc.

There will be something to keep the children and passengers amused and there will be a free draw for all entrants as well as a thank you token for every entry. Again this event is in aid of a very deserving local charity and only costs €20 including meal . This was a very successful event last year and we are asking for your support again this year. The local business community were generous in their sponsorship of last years event and again we ask for your valued support.

Hollywood GAA

Unwanted clothing is being collected to raise funds, contact Brian Keogh. Hurling training for U8, U10 and U12 takes place every Tuesday evening in Hollywood at 6.30pm. Cul Camps for Primary School children are fast approaching with the Football taking place in Dunlavin from July 18th to 22nd. Hurling and Camogie taking place in Hollywood from August 15th to 19th. Cul Camp forms are available from the Club

Geraldine Clifford School of Irish Dance

The Geraldine Clifford School of Irish Dancing is one of the longest established Schools of Dance in Co Kildare and Co Wicklow. Classes will be starting up in the Hollywood Centre on Tuesday September 6th from 4-5pm. Pre-Enrolment is required. Please contact Tracey on 087-6533706 to Register. Karate classes have resumed in the Hollywood Centre, after the June break, and are running every Friday afternoon from 6 to 8pm. More details later regarding the month of August.

Kilmacanogue Horse Show this weekend

A great Family Fun Day out in Wicklow

Kilmacanogue Horse Show is on Saturday 23rd July at Monastery Cross, Enniskerry starting at 9.30a.m. The show promises to be a great day out for all the family with loads to see and do including pony rides and face painting.

There will be a range of Horse and Pony classes, including Miniature Horses and Ponies, Registered Draught Horses, Connemara Ponies and also Show Jumping for Riding Club members, Carriage Driving, Donkey classes and many qualifying classes for All Ireland Championships. The biggest attraction is always the children’s pony classes including the Fancy Dress class, Lead Rein, First Ridden and Obedient Pony.

Other classes include Sheep, Photography and the family Dog show starting at 3p.m.which always attracts a large entry so get your dog entered early!

This year we will also have local country market stalls, including jams, bakery, home made sweets, coppercraft and more.

All proceeds from the show will be distributed to local charities and the National Rehabilitation Hospital. Admission is €5 per person, Children Free.
