Are you ready to reset your Facebook Privacy?

new facebook timeline raises concernsAre you on FACEBOOK?

Most likely answer is yes.

Have you seen the new ‘timeline’ look? Not only does it look different ( and I think better personally)  but there are major concerns over privacy and what people will now be able to see on your facebook profile whether you like it or not – that is unless you take action and ensure that you check all your privacy settings again!

I came across a  very interesting article  on webpronews, an online publication that I subscribe to, the author is Josh Wolford is a Staff Writer for WebProNews.

The main gist is as see below:

The Timeline puts everything out there by default, and it’s the user’s job to clean it up and make sure that they aren’t publicly sharing something that they want to remain private.

And as far as the concern over frictionless sharing with new apps, the answer is fairly simple.

If you don’t want everyone to see what you’re listening to with Spotify, don’t connect Spotify to your Facebook account.

If their recent actions haven’t made it clear, Facebook is going all-in with sharing. That’s what “frictionless” means – without impediments. The free flow of information has to be curbed by the user, if they want certain activities to remain private.

Wicklow to feature on new show

Wicklow is to feature twice on a new 12 part HD documentary series for TG4 “Cé a Chónaigh i mo Theachsa?”/”Who Lived in my House?”.

First this Thursday 2nd Feb (Eamon Morrissey’s House)TG4 at 10pm, and also 9th Feb ( Killruddery House)

The series tells the extraordinary stories of our houses and who lived in them before us.

This week (Thursday 2nd Feb, 10pm, TG4) we will be telling the story of Fair City Actor – Eamon Morrissey’s House in Wicklow.

Amongst the ancient fairy forts that surround Eamon’s cottage in Aughavannagh in Co. Wicklow, presenter Manchán Magan will find stories of the ancient fairy “Sí” people who once inhabited it and stories of the ferocious Irish rebels that later fought and died for it.

Episode Info:

Ep4 – AUGHAVANNAGH – (Eamon Morrissey’s House) Co. Wicklow
TX: TG4 10pm Thurs 2nd Feb 2012

“Aghavannagh is the last place God made” – so goes local Wicklow proverb. Actor and Writer Eamon Morrissey’s charming cottage was built deep in the heart of Wicklow amongst the ancient fairy forts, over two hundred years ago. This mythical area was to become the heartland of Gaelic Ireland, long after other parts of the country had fallen to English rule. The Wicklow Mountains and valleys harboured many Irish rebels and were a maze from the point of view of the English soldiers. Through a major feat of engineering, the English built Military Road straight through this wilderness to quell Irish Rebellions here once and for all. The road stopped at Eamon’s cottage. Manchán is keen to uncover the ancient fairy myths that surround and protect Eamon’s cottage and whether the cottage harboured friend or foe.

Ep5 – KILLRUDDERY HOUSE – TX Thursday 9TH FEB 10pm – TG4

“The Tudors”, “Camelot”, “Excalibur” and “Far and Away” are all associated with Killruddery House in Bray. For the first time, Lord and Lady Meath have allowed a documentary television crew into their home to tell the fascinating story of their house and family.

Ep6 – DALAIGH HOUSE ON THE GREAT BLASKET – TX Thursday 16TH FEB 10pm – TG4

Manchán visits a cottage to which the ‘Sí’ reputedly gifted the owners the mystical air Port na bPúcaí, a tune so powerful it can call whales to the surface, and he finds the island may have been inhabited since prehistoric times.

Ep7 – GLIN CASTLE – TX Thursday 23RD FEB 10pm – TG4

Featuring the last ever interview with Desmond Fitzgerald, the 29th Knight of Glin, this episode tells a 700 year long tale, revealing how the Black Knights championed Gaelic culture through revolution and patronage.

Ep8 – HOWTH CASTLE – TX Thursday 1ST MAR 10pm – TG4

Manchán visits the stunning home of the St. Lawrence Family – Howth Castle. He discovers how Gráinne Mhaol forced the owners to leave their gates open and how Jonathan Swift was inspired to write some of his most important pamphlets.

Ep9 – BROWNSWOOD HOUSE – TX Thursday 8TH MAR 10pm – TG4

In Brownswood House Manchán explores the once family home of designer Eileen Grey, who created what Le Corbusier considered the world’s most perfect house and a chair that sold for €21.9 million.

Ep10 – LEAP CASTLE – TX Thursday 15TH MAR 10pm – TG4

Musician Seán Ryan invites Manchán into his 500 year-old tower house, apparently one of the most haunted castles in the world, and discovers a fascinating connection with Napoleon Bonaparte.

Ep11 – KINLAY HOUSE – TX Thursday 22ND MAR 10pm – TG4

Behind Kinlay House in Temple Bar, Manchán discovers the trace of an ancient Viking street, one of Dublin’s oldest and he unearths a story that links Dublin’s first serial killer, the Hellfire Club and George Frideric Handel together.

Ep12 – RICE HOUSE – TX Thursday 29TH MAR 10pm – TG4

In Rice House in Dingle, Manchán finds a fascinating tale about how a Count of the Holy Roman Empire is reputed to have fitted out Rice house in preparation for harbouring Marie Antoinette after he rescued her from the Guillotine!

Thats TG4 Thursday Nights at 10pm.
