Wicklow Arts Festival Teen Poetry Challenge

The Wicklow Arts Festival is delighted to announce that the Teen Poetry Challenge will be taking place again as part of this year’s Festival. Now in its third year, the poetry competition gives a platform for aspiring young writers from Wicklow county and beyond to highlight their writing skills.

Entrants are required to submit a 20 line, or less, poem in their own style and a theme of their choice and can enter up to three submissions per person.

Entrants can send their poems along with their name, contact details and age to info@wicklowartsfestival.ie or hand it in to the Wicklow Branch Library before the closing date of 6pm Monday 9th May. The poetry challenge is open to 12-18 year olds.

Shortlisted writers will be invited to the Wicklow Branch Library on Thursday 26th May at 7pm, where the Wicklow Writers will welcome the audience to a recital of the shortlisted poems after which the winners will be chosen by popular vote.

The overall winner receives €50, €30 goes to second place and third place gets €20.

In addition, all shortlisted poems will be posted on the festival website www.wicklowartsfestival.ie and on the Wicklow Writers blog after the festival.
