Easter Saturday 07th April

Don’t forget folks:

Laragh Woodland Reserve Hands-on Volunteering Day

Join the Native Woodland Trust on Saturday 07th April for a fun hands-on volunteering day on our scenic Wicklow Mountains Reserve. The reserve is situated high in the mountains above the village of Laragh, overlooking a picturesque valley on the edge of the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Hands on volunteering days are the perfect way to have fun and get some exercise in the great outdoors while making a real difference for Irish conservation.

2012 will see the continuation of our tree planting activities on our Laragh reserve where we aim to create a community native woodland within this beautiful valley. “This woodland is for the enjoyment and use of the community and our native wildlife and it will be passed on to our next generation as a valuable contribution to a country where native woodland is all to scare. For this important mission we need your help.”

On Saturday we will be preparing the site for this year’s up and coming tree planting with some important access path clearance. This essential reserve maintenance will be carried out using hand-held tools and simple techniques and will be co-ordinated and overseen by our reserve officer. We will of course take plenty of breaks, stopping for tea (on us!) and some lunch while enjoying the spectacular views and fresh air of the Wicklow Mountains. So join us and make a difference for Irish conservation. Everyone is welcome!

The meeting point for this event is the Brockagh Centre car park, Laragh, Co. Wicklow at 10:30 on Saturday 07th April. We will be working onsite until 16:30 however volunteers need not spend a whole day – any time contributed is worthwhile and very much appreciated.

Booking is essential for this event.  For more details and to book onto this volunteering day please contact Kieran at kieran.flood@nativewoodlandtrust.ie or on 087 1953629.
