Naturally safe way to kill Moss and Algae

Have you looked at the moss in your garden recently! Introducing the naturally safe way to kill Moss and Algae.

If, like me, you have been waiting until the weather turns before you head back out to the garden to clear the leaves, plant the veg and mow the lawn then you might not have noticed the amount of moss build up there has been recently.

With the mild winter and warm spring algae and moss has been flourishing – decking, lawns, tiles and paths seem to be covered with it.  I have always looked for something that is safe to use in my garden and home because, as you know, little feet and paws tend to carry what is in the garden into the home!

MossOff is a chemical free moss and algae remover which eradicates the need for using the traditional methods of removing moss or algae with bleach or chemically based products, which can be unsafe for children, pets and plants.  While power hosing can damage the surfaces removing the natural oils and grouting.

MossOff works by covering the moss in an invisible, biodegradable micro-coating that prevents it from drawing moisture from the air and, as moss has no roots, it dies. That’s why MossOff is completely harmless to other plants.

What makes MossOff better.

  • It is safe
  • It is chemical free
  • It outlasts all other methods which is why we need only use it twice a year!
  • It won’t damage anything in your garden except the moss and algae
  • It can be bought ready to use
  • It comes in a multi surface formula
  • Can be used on your driveway, paths, wooden decks, tiles, patio, steps, furniture and lawns

Why don’t you look out for it when you are next instore or request it here MossOff Products.

Citizens Information Bus coming to a town near you

CIC Bus Dates Co Wicklow:

  • Wicklow Town Thursday 15 march 2012
  • Tinahely Friday 16 March 2012
  • Arklow Tues 20 march 2012
  • Carnew Wed 21 March 2012

Bray Citizens Information Centre will team up with Bray Area Partnership’s Local Employment Service on Tuesday 13th and 14th March 2012 at Bray Civic Centre.

County Wicklow Citizens Information Service is delighted to announce the return of the highly successful Citizens Information Service Bus initiative – an accessible, mobile information and advice unit for the public.

This initiative has been put in place to provide information on civil and social rights and entitlements, particularly to those who are affected by the economic downturn.

“Because of the current economic situation and cut backs in public finances it is crucially important that people know where they can go to get information on their rights and entitlements” said Martina Cronin, Development Manager with Co Wicklow Citizens Information Service.

Citizens Information Centres (CICs) can give advice to people who have recently become redundant, unemployed or are having income difficulties for the first time. In addition, the needs of vulnerable people in society, such as those on low incomes, people with disabilities, immigrants and older people, are becoming more acute. They are greatly exposed during tough economic times.

“People’s needs have become more complex in areas such as personal finance, debt, employment rights, unemployment and access to services“ explained Martina. The numbers accessing services has increased exponentially 17,868 callers into the centres in Co. Wicklow and 21,723 queries in 2011 compared to 16,445 callers and 19,302 queries in 2009.

There is always a concern that the hard to reach are not being accessed and this is why the CIC mobile unit initiative is important.

It allows the Citizens Information Service in County Wicklow, along with other agencies such as Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) and Bray Area Partnership’s Local Employment Service, the opportunity to travel to areas where there are no services available and to provide a one-stop-shop for all information needs.

“When the bus is at the Civic Centre in Bray it allows us to meet with and give out information to people on signing on days, some whom might not normally come into our offices” said Mary O Carolan ,Employment Services Co coordinator with Bray Area Partnership.

“It gives us an opportunity to offer a holistic service where our customers have all of their information needs met under the one roof by different service providers”.

For the first time the bus will visit Tinahely on Friday morning 16thMarch. The objective is to try to reach out to the rural areas of the County to ensure that everyone has easy access to good quality information, advice and advocacy.

Arklow Tues 20 march 2012

Then it moves to Shelton Abbey in Arklow on Tuesday 20th March from 10am to 1.00pm where both CIC and MABS services will be available.

Carnew Wed 21 March 2012

On Wednesday morning 21st March the bus will move to Carnew and assist people with their enquiries.

“Professional staff deliver the service and it’s free confidential and impartial with no need for a prior appointment. The service is purely for the convenience of those who do not normallyhave easy access to information services around the county or who would find it hard to visit the main offices”, concludes Martina. She adds that the mobile unit is fully accessible and that everyone is welcome to drop in.

Blessington Tree Walk, 04 March, 12:00

To celebrate National Tree Week the Native Woodlands Trust is hosting a tree walk on our Blessington Reserve at Russborough this weekend. Join us for an exploration of this picturesque reserve on the shores of the Poulaphouca Reservoir.

Our Blessington reserve boasts a number of mature trees of various variety as well as a sheltered wetland ecosystem and beautiful lakeside views. Our walk will follow the theme of 2012 National Tree Week “Trees – Our Past, Our Present Our Future”. The walk will highlight the mature trees onsite, some dating back to the planting of the Russborough estate; we will then discuss our plans for the planting and management of the site as we take measures to ensure vibrant native woodland establishes itself here now and long into the future.

The event is free of charge and open to all. The meeting point for this event is at the reserve itself on the N81 opposite Russborough House at 12:00 on 4rd March. For directions and parking details contact Kieran at kieran.flood@nativewoodlandtrust.ie or on 087 1953629.
