‘Actively Managing Your Brand’

Guest Speakers: Dr. John Fanning & Jacquie Marsh

Managing your brand as a small business is just as important as for a global business. Indeed, even individual sole traders have a ‘brand’ identity. John Fanning will provide relevant case studies, in a lively presentation, illustrating how imagination, quirky branding ideas and innovative thinking can set you ahead of the pack, whatever industry you are in.
Dr. John Fanning is the author of ‘The Importance of Being Branded: An Irish Perspective’. He has over four decades of experience in industry, having been Managing Director, and then Chairman of the advertising agency McConnell’s, and is currently the Chairman of Bord Bia’s Brand Forum.
Jacquie Marsh is Managing Director of Bray based company, The Butler’s Pantry.

Seminar 2: 3pm - 4.30pm

‘No Recession Online - eCommerce Options for SMEs’

Guest Speakers: Joan Mulvihill & David Kerr

One of the most common phrases circulating in recent times is that ‘there is no recession online’. But what does this mean for your small/medium enterprise (SME) based in Ireland? Many SMEs spend a lot of time, effort and money on their websites, but if you can generate income from your business website, are you exploiting that opportunity fully?
Joan Mulvihill is CEO of the Irish Internet Association.
David Kerr is the founder and Managing Director of Bonkers Money Ltd., which provides personal finance and price comparison services in Ireland via the website Bonkers.ie.  He is currently Vice-Chairperson of the Irish Internet Association. The Bonkers.ie website won ‘Best Financial Services Website’ at the prestigious eircom Spider Awards 2011.

We will then follow a board walk up towards the Gleneola River and bridge where we will stop for some lunch.

From here we will take the path passing an old mining village and through a forest of old Scot pines. We will follow the trail along the side of the upper lake and through the heart of Glendalough valley back to where we started.

Indeed our 1000th blog was dedicated to Brand Wicklow in June of last year.

We pride ourselves on getting our customers online and more importantly top of google,  reaching their target base for a very affordable annual rate. ( prices start at just €150)

In fact if you google ‘brand wicklow’ - we come up first!  see screengrab below.

brand wicklow

We have also been busy promoting the FREE to download Explore Wicklow App which features things to do and discount offers throughout the county ! Download it yourself via www.explorewicklow.ie

So get your wicklow business online and work with us to promote yourself to a wider audience of potential customers.

Contact Roz on 087 3205680 or email us at office@thewicklowway.ie. Alternatively you can view our packages on www.wicklowireland.ie

Unfortunately we cannot make the meeting tonight due to a prior engagement but we will be there in spirit and online as always. :)

Notice from Pascal Burke:

You may be familiar with the Local Heroes campaign that has been running on many RTE programmes on both radio and television.

The focus of the Local Heroes campaign is on communities developing initiatives to sustain and create employment in the local economy. We are asking all local businesses, retailers, publicans, restaurants, coffee shops, B&B owners and community leaders etc to attend this important meeting and to have their say in the development of Brand Wicklow Town and the future of Wicklow Town as a Retail and Tourism destination and in the creation of community lead initiatives to stimulate the local economy.

We believe that this is an important meeting that could have a significant impact on the future development of our Town and your attendance and contribution would be greatly appreciated.

Yours sincerely,
Pascal Burke
Chairperson
Brand Wicklow Town Subcommittee

P.S.  You will be aware that Wicklow Town won the award for encouraging shoppers to stay local during the Christmas period with the Victorian Christmas theme in the Medium Towns category.  It would be a pity not to capitalise on the positive coverage we received on the George Lee’s business programme on the 19th of December 2011.  Let’s keep the momentum going!!!
